Haiti Travel Information
Many of our patients and others in our community are involved in efforts to assist Haiti since the earthquake. As we have received inquiries regarding health risks, preventive measures, and treatments we felt it would be helpful to provide some general information and guidance to reliable resources. For the most reliable information regarding travel, including infectious risks and more, click on this CDC link.
We are proud of the individuals who are willing to give to this effort through their church or other volunteer organizations and want to make sure you remain protected and healthy. The link above details necessary vaccinations, food and water precautions, personal protection equipment, first aid kit info, and much more.
If you need guidance regarding this information, immunizations, prophylactic medication, evaluation for illness upon return, etc. then please call us for an appointment. We do NOT have rabies vaccination and we would recommend talking with the Williamson County Health Department (LINK) or Travis County Health Department (LINK) if you feel you will be at significant risk for rabies contact.
We should be able to manage your needs for your trip to Haiti except for the rabies vaccination. When you come to your office visit, please bring your updated immunization record so we can ensure that you do not miss any necessary vaccinations and do not get any unnecessary extras.
